Why do you have to fight on a competitive environment when in SEO with long tail keywords can bring much more interesting traffic?
As a SEO specialist, I knew long tail keywords brings together the keywords little searched by users and therefore on which there is little competition. This is in particular due to the precision of the term, for example “how to train a dog not to bark”.
Better targeting, less competition, higher conversion rates… That’s why you should use long keywords.
1. Less Competition
I’m not gonna hide it, going to win a position 0 or even a top 3 on a competitive environment, it is not obvious.
When the most persevering will try by all means to rank themselves on a short keyword, the most pragmatic will choose to optimize long tail keywords.
Less targeted than queries with a large number of monthly searches, short keywords are more difficult to place on the first page of Google.
2. Better Conversion Rate
On average, a long tail keyword offers a 2.5 X higher conversion rate than a generic keyword.
Why? Quite simply, because people who type a long query know what they’re looking for.
Take for example the query “dog training“. It has more than 155,000 monthly searches. The query “how can i stop my dog not to barking” has 820.
One can easily imagine that a person who types in the request “how can i stop my dog not to barking” wishes to train their dogs not to barking.
Conversion level, it’s still better than the query “dog training” which refers to train dog. There are many things need to train a dog like that.
The websites that have optimized their sites on “how to train a dog + variant terms” will most likely go out on Google when someone searches for this keyword on the internet.
It will also be much more likely to appear in voice search results such as “Hey Siri, how can i stop my dog not to barking“. People looking for that will enroll Dog training course. The conversion rate of this keyword is therefore much higher.
3. Help with supporting main keyword
If you still want to rank your site on a competitive keyword, the presence of optimized pages on the long tail keywords can help you bring “juice” (juice links) to your optimized page on a short keyword.
It is a bit like the principle of the semantic cocoon, I start from a broad query, and I widen to subjects related to the same niche by always deviating a little more from the main query.
The more these pages point to your main landing page (with main keyword), the heavier it will weigh in the eyes of Google.
4. Suitable for Voice Search
Long Tail keywords are more likely to be spoken during a voice search.
Another example “SEO” is a search which leads exclusively to digital marketer who teach you that “search engine optimization” is said to be “SEO”.
While the search “what is search engine optimization” brings up lists of websites related to SEO or even a site of Digital marketing services .
Again, I note that long tailkeyword responds better to an interested audience than a general query (with generic keyword).
5. Popular with Search Engines
Finally, long tail keywords clearly answer the questions of users. And that is an important criterion in the eyes of Google.
A person who types in a long query is more likely to come across content that interests them than someone who types in a short keyword. So there are a lot more probabilities that there is some time left on the site.
A good sign for Google who doesn’t like quick visits and high bounce rates. Your site is therefore more likely to be perceived as relevant by search engines, all thanks to the precision of the information you publish.
